“I am light among lights — vibrating at the frequency of the greatest good.”
- Making the Sacred Simple mantra, FASTGIRLS, 2020
I am Light | Divinely Aligned and Activated. My purpose is to illuminate and uplift the divine gifts in others so they can powerfully share them with the world.
At my core I seek the spirit of beauty in all things. My life is nourished by expressions of creativity, art and community. I express myself and my story through a variety of disciplines including movement, programming, writing, film, photography, and music. You can experience my work and offerings through community gatherings, transformative experiences in nature, education sessions at the intersection of art and technology, and in my living room for brunch.
Over the past 15 years, I have used multiple platforms to build community around the arts, humanities, education, and technology. I work with companies and cultural institutions to develop free and low-cost accessible programming reflective of the rich cultural communities in which we thrive. My passion is programming with and for communities that have historically been marginalized, but my deepest commitment is programming with and for women and more specifically Black women.
Over the years, my work, research, lectures, keynotes, and scholarship have been showcased at Apple, Brooklyn Museum, Columbia University, Harvard University, New York Media Center, New York University, and Pratt Institute. I have also served on advisory boards for Afrotectopia, New Museum, and Lady Boss.
You can call on me for the following skills: ideation, brainstorming, research, program development, motivational consultations; and graduation keynotes for students, panels, and moderation. I listen and create connections to build networks among like-minded humans. I am also available to lead sessions on the variety of ways you can seek beauty in your daily experiences and the practices we hold sacred.
On any given day, you can find me with my daughter, soleila, my son, indigo, and husband, Herman, in Brooklyn as we bop around spreading Black Love and Black Joy to all we encounter. If you see me around Brooklyn or anywhere else in the world, please say “hello”!
